Characteristics

Lemongrass is a perennial plant that grows in reed-like clumps and can reach heights of up to 2 meters. It flowers only rarely. The grass-like leaves are long and pointed and have a distinct lemon fragrance. Only the lower, thickened part of the stalks is used as a spice.

Medicinal Effects

Lemongrass is said to have healing properties. The essential oil it contains, citronella oil, is believed to help with stomach complaints. Furthermore, lemongrass is considered to have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.
